Qualified in Medicine in 1973 from University of Cape Town. Rhodes Scholar at Keble 1975-8 - DPhil in transplantation immunology in Nuffield Dept Surgery, supervised by Prof P J Morris, FRS. Specialist training at Royal Postgraduate Medical School 1982-1988. Now Honorary Senior Lecturer, Oxford University. Clinical Director, Oxford Kidney Unit.
