Academic Background
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) at University of Melbourne, followed by PhD at Melbourne, studying flame propagation in internal combustion engines. Post-doctoral experience at Cambridge University Engineering Department. Employed at Aeronautical Research Laboratories in Melbourne, involved in early failure detection in aircraft engines and helicopter gearboxes, before moving to Oxford.
Undergraduate Teaching
Lecturing in first-year dynamics, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, second-year thermodynamics, third-year rigid body dynamics and machines, fourth-year machines. Tutoring in dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structures, machines, materials.
Research Interests
Early failure detection in machines and structures, vibration, digital signal processing, time-frequency analysis, wavelets, physics of musical instruments, internal combustion engines.
