Academic Background
Thomas Hinton completed a BA in Philosophy and French at St John's College, Oxford in 2004. He then obtained an MA in Medieval Studies at King's College London, and in 2010 completed a PhD on medieval Arthurian romance, also at King's College London.
Research Interests
Medieval French and Occitan literature, especially of the twelfth and thirteenth centuries; Arthurian romance; manuscripts and the material context of medieval texts. My next research project explores the emergence of vernacular literacy in the thirteenth century, and its effect on how authors of French and Occitan texts conceived the relation between past and present.
