Academic Background

I studied at Bielefeld University where I obtained a BA in German as a Foreign Language and British and American Studies as well as an MA in German as a Foreign Language and German Studies. During my time in Bielefeld I held several positions as a teaching assistant and a research assistant. As part of my practical training I also spent a semester at the Australian National University in Canberra.

Undergraduate Teaching

German language classes, focusing especially on essay-writing skills and oral skills. Preparation for the year abroad. German Culture and Society.

Research Interests

Processes of cultural learning and the acquisition of (inter-)cultural competence as well as methods of formal instruction in this area and their effectiveness.
