Ms Christine Fairchild
Academic and Professional Background
I was appointed Oxford University’s Director of Alumni Relations in March 2011. The post is responsible for supporting links between alumni of the collegiate University and Oxford through a dynamic offering of events, benefits, services and communications vehicles. The University has 180,000 known alumni, including more than 44,000 in 188 countries outside the UK. There is an extensive alumni network in the UK and abroad with more than 200 active branches and associations. Key alumni events include the annual Alumni Weekend in Oxford and regular alumni events in Europe, North America and Asia.
Before arriving at Oxford, I had over 20 years of experience in alumni relations at the Harvard Business School (HBS). In the last seven years I headed up External Relations at HBS, overseeing the School’s alumni outreach and fundraising activities. Prior to joining HBS, I worked at the Harvard Art Museums where I spent ten years in membership, development, special events and public education activities.
I was educated at Connecticut College in the US and graduated with a BA in Asian Studies. I have volunteered for Hospice of Cambridge, Mount Auburn Hospital, Reading for the Blind and Dyslexic, Learning by Design, Concord Academy and Connecticut College. I currently serve as a Director on the Board of Oxford Limited and sit on the Malvern College Council. Interests include travel (especially to any seaside destinations!), film, food and all forms of art.
