Tue, 2012-04-17 18:22William Boyd, an Old Member and Honorary Fellow of Jesus College, has been chosen by the Ian Fleming estate to write the latest James Bond novel. The new book, as yet untitled, is scheduled to appear in 2013, the 60th anniversary of the first Bond novel, Casino Royale. Set in the late 1960s, it will mark a return to the "classic Bond" style, eschewing the obsession of the film versions with cars and gadgets in favour of "story and character".
Boyd is well known as the author of eleven novels including A Good Man in Africa, An Ice-Cream War, Brazzaville Beach, Any Human Heart and Restless. His awards include the Whitbread Prize and Somerset Maugham Award.
