The College can provide well-equipped, attractive, and reasonably-priced accommodation for most (but not all) full-time graduate students throughout their course (whilst they are paying fees).

Accommodation Allocation Policy

Graduates may apply for college accommodation but should be aware it may not be possible to accommodate all graduates. In particular, applicants for graduate courses should not assume that college accommodation will be available in their first year.

Students who are not resident in college accommodation must comply with the University's Regulations for Residence

Allocation Procedure for New Graduates

First year graduates may express a preference between a single room or flat for established couples only. Students requesting a single room may be allocated a single room in a shared flat. For second-year graduates onwards, a ballot system will allow some choice of accommodation.

The Accommodation Services Manager allocates rooms for first-year graduates towards the end of August/early September. Accommodation will be allocated to students who have satisfied the financial conditions of their offer by the deadline stated in the offer letter, in the order in which they accepted our offer. If, as sometimes happens, the demand for accommodation exceeds supply, a waiting list will be kept in this priority order. Students will be notified of the outcome of their accommodation application at this point, to allow time to secure private accommodation if necessary. Students, who satisfy the financial conditions of their offer after the deadline, will be allocated any remaining accommodation in the order in which their financial guarantees are approved.

Locations

Graduates may be housed in any of the following locations, according to the numbers of undergraduate and postgraduates seeking College accommodation:

Houses in Ship Street (which is adjacent to College)

Annexe sites (shared flats for 3-4 people and couples accommodation)

The College may rent additional properties, either privately or from other Colleges

Rooms are allocated as available: first years may express a preference between a single room or flat for established couples only. Students requesting a single room may be allocated a single room in a shared flat. For second-year graduates onwards, a ballot system will allow some choice of accommodation. The Accommodation Services Manager allocates rooms for first-year graduates towards the end of August, and it is at this stage that students are notified of the outcome of their accommodation application. Applicants should be aware that it may not be possible to accommodate all first year graduates; the rooms are allocated according to the College's accommodation allocation policy.
