Academic Background
I originally qualified and practiced as a veterinary surgeon, graduating from the University of Bristol with an additional undergraduate degree in Pathology and Microbiology, and then working in U.K. clinical veterinary practice and for U.K. and international charities. I made the switch to epidemiology with a Masters from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and then studied for my PhD at the Royal Veterinary College and LSHTM, before moving to Oxford to work with the Neglected Tropical Disease Modelling Consortium. I am now a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow in the department of Biology.
Research Interests
My work primarily focuses on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), a group of diseases that typically affect the world’s poorest communities. I use data-driven approaches, in particular mathematical modelling and statistical analyses, focusing on research questions of operational and policy relevance.
