Academic Background

BA, MPhil, PhD

I grew up in Canada and completed my BA (in Latin and Mediaeval Studies) at the University of Toronto, before moving to Trinity College, Cambridge for an MPhil and PhD, where I specialised in medieval English legal history. Since then, I have held a fellowship at the Institute of Historical Research in London, and worked at Oxford and at the Institut de recherche et d’histoire des textes in Paris. I returned to Oxford in 2020.

I teach MSt and DPhil students how to read medieval Latin manuscripts, and am very happy to answer students’ enquiries in this area.

My research interests include Medieval Latin textual criticism, as well as manuscript studies and book history more broadly; the intellectual history of Europe in the twelfth century; legal history.
