Career Development Lecturer in Philosophy
BA, MPhil, PhD
I completed my PhD in Philosophy at the University of Warwick in March 2016. Prior to that I did an MPhil in Philosophy at UCL and a BA in Philosophy at Heythrop College, University of London.
Ethics, Practical Ethics, Epistemology, Philosophy of Mind, Early Modern Philosophy, Philosophy of Kant.
Metaethics, Philosophy of Action, Epistemology.
My research is primarily in the theory of reasons: a topic at the intersection of Moral Philosophy and Philosophy of Mind. I explore questions like: what are reasons for us to act – are they facts, truths, objects, events? And what makes a reason a reason – do I have a reason to keep a promise I’ve made only if I care about the institution of promise keeping? And what is it to act in response to a reason, anyway – do you need to know your reason in order to act in response to it?
I encourage prospective Jesus College applicants to contact me with any questions they have via email.
