Postgraduate Teaching

Metaethics, Philosophy of Action, Epistemology.

Research Interests

My research is primarily in the theory of reasons: a topic at the intersection of Moral Philosophy and Philosophy of Mind. I explore questions like: what are reasons for us to act – are they facts, truths, objects, events? And what makes a reason a reason – do I have a reason to keep a promise I’ve made only if I care about the institution of promise keeping? And what is it to act in response to a reason, anyway – do you need to know your reason in order to act in response to it?

I encourage prospective Jesus College applicants to contact me with any questions they have via email.
