Academic Background
PhD, FRCP, CCDS
I studied Medicine at St John’s College, Cambridge and New College, Oxford. I undertook my postgraduate training in Oxford and Birmingham and was awarded a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine in 2011. I was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 2017 and was elected FRCP in 2022. I am an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer for the University of Oxford.
I am the clinical lead of the Inherited Cardiac Conditions service in Oxford University Hospitals and also have an interest in implantable cardiac devices (e.g. defibrillators and pacemakers).
Undergraduate Teaching Areas
I teach Jesus College, clinical medical students.
Research Interests
My research is primarily in clinical aspects of genetic disorders of heart rhythm and heart muscle – channelopathies and cardiomyopathies. Additionally, I am involved with clinical trials of device therapy including conduction system pacing.
Hobbies
I enjoy playing guitar and triathlon. I am a keen cyclist and runner (but far less keen swimmer).
