Academic Background

MSci, DPhil, FHEA

I studied for my undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Imperial College London and stayed to complete my PhD in the group of Professor Nicholas Long, as part of the Doctoral Training Centre in Smart Medical Imaging. In 2021, I moved to the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory at the University of Oxford, where I was a Departmental Lecturer in Practical Chemistry. I was appointed to my current role as Departmental Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in July 2024.

Undergraduate Teaching Areas

I teach inorganic tutorials to first- and second-year students at Jesus and Queen’s and I have previously taught first-year organic chemistry at Pembroke. I have also supervised Chemistry Part II projects aligned with the fields of inorganic chemistry and chemistry education.

Postgraduate Teaching Areas

I support the delivery of the 6-month taught course for the Inorganic Materials for Advanced Manufacturing Centre for Doctoral Training (IMAT CDT).

Research Interests

My research in the field of Chemistry Education takes a practitioner-based approach, considering the knowledge and skills we want undergraduate students to possess by the end of their studies, and how we design and develop a curriculum which aligns with these goals. I have a particular interest in linking undergraduate learning to research carried out in the university.
