4-hour Stipendiary Lecturership in Biology

Jesus College, Oxford invites applications for a fixed-term four-hour Stipendiary Lecturership in Biology from 1 April 2022 until 31 March 2023.

The successful candidate will have the ability to deliver teaching in genetics, epigenetics, and cell and developmental biology within the remit of the Building a Phenotype course, which is taught in the first year of the Masters in Biology. Ability to deliver other aspects of the first year course such as organismal diversity and research skills will be highly valued. In addition, they will be expected to set and mark College examinations, to participate in the routine administration of Biology, to take part in undergraduate admissions, and to assist in the pastoral care of undergraduates reading the subject.

Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a good first degree in Biology or equivalent and should be close to completion of or have obtained a doctorate in Biology. Some teaching experience would be an advantage. The salary for the post is on a scale from £9,308 – £10,469 p.a. (in 2021-22 terms) depending on qualifications and experience, and optional membership of USS is offered. The lecturer will have an SCR dining allowance in weeks 0 to 9 of each term. A research allowance and teaching book allowance are also offered, as well as access to a teaching room. Mentoring will also be provided.
