In Michaelmas term 2024, Jesus College published its first carbon footprint report.
The report, commissioned by the College’s Environmental Sustainability Working Group (ESWG) earlier this year, provides it with baseline data on the total amount of greenhouse gases it generates (expressed as tCO2e). It also identifies Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions ‘hotspots’, and gives a set of recommendations to inform decision-making on the further steps that Jesus can take towards environmental sustainability.
The analysis of the College’s emissions was undertaken by Greener Edge Sustainability – an energy and sustainability consultancy – and measured Jesus’ carbon footprint for the 2022/23 academic year. Information provided by the College included procurement records for the year, and data extracted from the travel surveys conducted in Trinity term.
