Jesus College is home to a diverse community of students and staff, and a wide range of religious traditions. One of the roles of the Chaplain is to support and advocate for members of all faiths and none in questions of religion and belief.
There is a Multifaith Room on the stairs up to Fourth Quad. There are ablution facilities as well as prayer mats, but the room is intended to be used by anyone as a more secular reflective space.
If there’s a particular festival or event you’d like to celebrate, or you’d like more inormation about theĀ Multifaith Room, please contact the Chaplain.
Resources
Below you will find resources for some of the major religious traditions in the wider University.
Judaism
There is a thriving University Jewish Chaplaincy, led by Rabbi Michael Rosenfeld-Schueler. Rabbi Michael is a great point of contact for information about the Oxford Jewish Community.
Islam
A great source of information about life in Oxford as a Muslim is the Oxford University ISoc website. This includes information about mosques and prayer spaces, as well as Halal food and ISoc events.
Hinduism
Oxford University Hindu Society (or HumSoc) is the place to find Hindu community. There is also an Hindu Chaplain, Shaunaka Rishi Das, who is also director of the Oxford Centre for Hindu Studies.
LGBTQ+
Being religious as an LGBTQ+ person can be both rewarding and challenging. OULGBTQ+ Society has two faith reps, and organises regular events for LGBTQ+ people of faith.
