Role of the Director of Development
Dr Brittany Wellner James is Director of Development and a Fellow of Jesus College, and is responsible for raising philanthropic income in support of the College’s core academic objectives and mission. This includes major gift fundraising from donors both in the UK and overseas, as well as annual fundraising from alumni and other key stakeholders. Working with a Development team of seven, she also manages and oversees the College’s alumni engagement programme.
Academic Background
Dr Wellner James holds a doctorate in Chinese Studies from the University of Cambridge (Clare College) and an MA in Chinese Studies from SOAS. As an Associate Researcher at Cambridge she taught Chinese Film as part of the undergraduate tripos in Chinese and supervised undergraduate dissertations on Chinese film, drama and female writers.
Career Background
She was previously the Deputy Development Director at Clare College, Cambridge and the Head of Development for the Academy of Ancient Music.
