I teach the Spanish Prelims course (Literature and Translation Papers I, II, III, and IV) Spanish Period Paper VII; Portuguese Period Paper VII; Spanish Special Authors Paper X; FHS Translation from Spanish (Paper II); and, Spanish and Portuguese Grammar and Writing Skills.
I am currently working on a doctoral thesis in Spanish and Portuguese literature, at St. Catherine’s College, University of Oxford. My research examines the influence of Luís de Camões’s epic poem Os Lusíadas on the major and minor works of Luis de Góngora, with a particular consideration of the Fábula de Polifemo y Galatea and the Soledades.
I am particularly interested in the, often little explored, relationships between Spanish and Portuguese Literature in the early modern period, and I am working on an article exploring the influence of Garcilaso de la Vega’s eclogues on the pastoral poetry of Francisco de Sá de Miranda.
