Our standard offers depend on which course you apply for. For more details on standard offers please consult the course admission requirements page on the University's website. If your performance in your examinations is likely to be at this level, then you are in the range of students we are looking for and should seriously consider applying to us if you like the sound of what we can offer.
The University of Oxford's policy on the age of applicants for undergraduate courses is as follows:
"The University, mindful of its legal obligations, does not set any age requirements, but applicants for all undergraduate courses will be expected to demonstrate an approach to the study of their subject, which includes demonstrable skills of critical analysis, wide contextual knowledge and the ability to manage their own time without the external imposition of a full daily timetable."
Entry to Oxford is extremely competitive: it is, after all, one of the world's greatest universities. You have to be good to get in, and lots of good people are turned away each year. But more people underestimate their abilities and fail to apply to us than overestimate them.
Talk to your teachers, come and see us if you can, and by all means ask us for a candid opinion on whether it is worth your while applying. The answer will usually be "Yes"! You may still not get in, but if you do not apply you will have even less of a chance!
Most of our applicants will be taking A-level examinations, Scottish Highers or Advanced Highers, or International and European Baccalaureates. We are prepared to consider all equivalent qualifications - please contact the Academic Director for advice. Information on international qualifications is available on the University's website.
Most people apply before they take their examinations and we rely on predictions of performance given by their schools. We also welcome applications from candidates after grades are available. Jesus College does not however participate in "clearing" and all applicants are considered in the relevant December.
