Jesus College, Oxford invites applications for a fixed-term six-hour per week Stipendiary Lecturership in Organic Chemistry from 1 October 2018 – 30 September 2019. The College is willing to consider making two appointments with fewer hours (ie two lecturers each with 3-hour duties or one with 2 hours and one with 4 hours). The successful candidate will teach 1st, 2nd and 3rd-year students. In addition, he or she will be expected to set and mark College examinations, to participate in the routine administration of the subject, to take part in undergraduate admissions if required, and to assist in the pastoral care of undergraduates reading the subject.
Candidates should have a strong educational background, with a good first degree in Chemistry. Some teaching experience would be an advantage. The salary for the 6-hour post is on a scale from £13,248 – £14,900 p.a. (in 2017-18 terms) depending on qualifications and experience, and membership of USS is offered. The lecturer may take lunch and dinner free of charge during weeks 0 to 9 of each term. A research allowance and teaching book allowance are also offered, as well as access to a teaching room.
