College welcomes first Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Data and Insights Officer

19 October 2024

A warm welcome to Jonny Tridgell, who has joined College as the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Data and Insights Officer, a newly created position at Jesus.

Jonny’s role includes responsibility for developing a model for collecting and analysing EDI data across College in order to inform our EDI Strategy and activities going forward. Working closely with Stuart White, EDI Fellow, he is also responsible for coordinating and supporting the EDI Committee, as well as acting as the point of coordination for EDI events throughout the year.

Jonny joins Jesus following fourteen years teaching religious education in comprehensive secondary schools, where he was Head of Sixth Form, Head of Department and a lead EDI practitioner. He also spent two years teaching at a local further education college in Oxford, tutored on the University of Oxford PGCE, provided respite foster care in Buckinghamshire, and assisted in research with the Department of Education, in particular the Centre for Educational Assessment.

Jonny is a passionate advocate for EDI; his introduction into the field came through his work on LGBTQ+ inclusion, but he is committed to improving the experience for everyone, and challenging prejudice and discrimination in all their forms.

He says, “I’m delighted to have joined the College this term, and look forward to making real progress with our EDI goals in the months ahead.”
