Sports

The College offers excellent sports facilities, and all are welcome to use these, whether as a serious athlete, or just for fun.

There are many opportunities to try new sports, and join one of the College teams to play other colleges, which operate at all levels of expertise. You can also start your own sports club, if there’s a sport you’re passionate about pursuing during your time at Jesus.

We currently have;

  • Mixed Teams in Lacross, Ice Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Croquet, Dancesport, Chess, Athletics and Cue
  • Men’s Teams in Rowing, Football, Football Reserves, Basketball, Cricket, Squash and Rugby
  • Women’s Teams in Rowing and Football (JCR) teams.

Training on the river

We have squash courts and extensive playing fields with hockey, cricket, football and rugby pitches, hard grass tennis courts, netball courts, and a sports pavilion.

Our Men’s Football Team recently won the inter-College Cuppers 2022

We also have our own boathouse on the River Thames, with boats used all year round by our rowing crews, from novices to experienced rowers. Students can use the University’s swimming pool and next-door athletics stadium and gym free of charge.

You can also join a range of University sports clubs, and Jesus students currently represent the University in, amongst others, archery, rowing and rugby.

The University’s Wild Swimmers is a cold water swimming group founded by Jesus undergraduates. Read more here.

Existing students can find contact details for all our sports clubs on the College intranet.
