The Cheng Yu Tung Building is Jesus’s largest physical transformation since the early 18th century, and the culmination of an ambitious five-year project on this historic site to create exciting new opportunities to position the College as a leading institution for learning and research at Oxford. The design includes new teaching and meeting spaces, exceptional postgraduate facilities, a gallery, new student café, and raised Fourth Quad. The building also boasts a state-of-the-art Digital Hub named after Dr Cheng.
The highly anticipated event, included a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new building led by Dr Cheng and College Principal Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt FRS FREng.
Sir Nigel reflected, “It was a privilege and an honour as Principal of Jesus College to come together with Henry to dedicate the new Cheng Yu Tung Building in memory of the late Mr Cheng Yu Tung, Henry’s father, and the Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub, in honour of Henry himself. We are incredibly grateful to Henry for sharing our forward-thinking vision for education and the future of learning at Oxford. We believe that the Cheng Kar Shun Digital Hub will embody that vision, and become a great space for sharing knowledge and ideas in the Digital Age.”
