Women’s Football team enjoy match trip to Portugal

5 July 2024

Twelve members of the Jesus Women’s Football team (including one player from New College) have just returned from Portugal after a three-day sports trip to Lisbon. They were in the city for a match against a local women’s football team named Lisbon Casuals Ladies.

The team received a grant for their travel costs from the College’s Development Fund, and additional support from College for purchasing new training equipment.

Beatrice Osbourne, Team Captain, says “Unfortunately, we lost the game as our opposition were a much better trained team than us, but we had a lot of fun, and learnt a lot during the match. The trip was a great opportunity to socialise across the years in a women’s-only context, and we are all looking forward football practice next year, and improving our football skills!”

Despite the disappointing match result in Lisbon, the team is already looking forward to Michaelmas when they can train together again, and make good use of the new College gym, which opens at the start of term.
