Women in Sciences Day

Overview

The Women in Sciences Day invites young women* in Year 12 from across Wales to participate in a day of academic taster sessions, all exploring the wide variety of scientific study available at university.

Participants will attend the Oxford Open Day on the 27th of June, then stay in Jesus College accommodation that night. This gives participants the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live in real student halls. The Women in Sciences Day will then take place from 09:00-13:00 on the 28th of June.

*Includes people with a complex gender identity including woman.

Academic Taster Sessions

The Academic Taster Sessions are designed to give you a sample of university-style teaching. Subjects from across the Medical Sciences Division and the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division will be represented.

The Academic Taster Sessions will stretch the content you have already started to cover in your A Levels, allowing you to make connections between different science subjects. They will also provide you with a strong example of supercurricular engagement, which is useful for writing the Personal Statement or answering interview questions.
