Our Departments

The smooth running of the College is thanks in large part to our highly-skilled, welcoming and friendly staff, who work across ten main departments.

If you wish to contact a department or member of staff, click on the relevant box below for more information. Alternatively, you can submit a question or request via the Get in Touch form here.

The Academic Office deals with all of the College’s academic administration – covering undergraduates, postgraduates, and Fellows and lecturers – and is led by the Academic Director. The team of six staff looks after every aspect of a student’s academic career during their time at Jesus, from admissions, welfare and bursaries to academic prizes, graduate dinners and Collections.

The Academic Office is also home to the College’s Access and Outreach team, which manages a wide-reaching, academically-led programme of activities for prospective undergraduate Oxford applicants in its areas of responsibility; Wales and South London.

The Development Office has the dual responsibility of maintaining the College’s relationship with its 5000+ alumni, and fundraising in support of the College’s on-going activities. Everyone who studies at Jesus is a member of the College for life, and we hope that our alumni continue to be part of the college community long after they have left.

Our Libraries

The main library at Jesus College is the Meyricke Library, open to all current members of College. Our older printed books are housed in the historic Fellows’ Library, open by appointment. Enquiries about our medieval manuscripts should be directed to the Bodleian Libraries, where they are on deposit.

In addition, there is a specialist Celtic Library, open to students from across the University studying Celtic, and the John Wellingham Organ Studies Library, available to all current organ scholars in Oxford.

Our College Librarian is Owen McKnight (email librarian@jesus.ox.ac.uk, telephone 01865 279704).

Our Archives

The College Archives hold a large collection of documents, photographs, and printed papers, beginning with Elizabeth I’s foundation charter in 1571, which constitute a rich and unique resource for the study of the people, decisions, traditions and events that have contributed to the development of the College we know today.

If you know or possess anything that you think would contribute to the College Archives, or if you want help in researching an aspect of College history or the College life of an Old Member or Fellow, then please contact Dr Robin Darwall-Smith, our College Archivist, by email archivist@jesus.ox.ac.uk or by calling 01865 279761.

The Archives of Jesus College are usually open, by appointment only, on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10.00-1.00 and 2.00-4.30.

The Lodge Reception is the hub of Jesus College life; we are responsible for staffing the College’s main reception desk and provide advice, assistance and support to students, staff, fellows and visitors.  We ensure that College remains a safe and secure environment for all its members. We deal with post and parcels, bike registration, keys and fobs and any out of hours problems that inevitably arise. Consider us as your information centre! You will always be met with a smiling face and the desire to help you, whatever your question or concern.

We strive to be a friendly team and take a great pride in our role. There are 7 Lodge Receptionists, overseen by our Lodge Manager, who provide a professional reception service for the College 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
