Welcome to Jesus College Chapel
An Introduction from the Chaplain
Hi, I’m Chris Dingwall-Jones, Chaplain of Jesus College. As Chaplain, my role is to be here for all students and staff, regardless of faith – or absence thereof. I’m available to talk through difficulties and problems, to give advice, to discuss deep theological questions, or just to chat over a brew (although the latter will sadly have to be virtual in the current circumstances). As a member of the Welfare Team, I’m also able to signpost people to other areas of support if necessary.
I have an academic background, and my PhD is in Theatre and Performance Studies, looking at the representation of ‘madness’ in modern British theatre, so I’m keen to encourage the arts within College. If you have any ideas of events or performances you’d like to use Chapel for, do get in touch!
For my sins, I have done not one but two Oxford undergrad degrees, in English and Theology, so understand the pressures and stresses of this way of learning, and the difficulties of balancing work and play when there’s so much to read, think about, and do.
Finally, I think it’s important to be explicit that Chapel and Chaplaincy are inclusive spaces – you are welcome particularly if you’ve ever felt excluded by ‘the Church.’ I’m always happy to talk about any concerns you might have, and abide by the College Confidentiality Policy.
Do get in touch by email at email@example.com, or telephone (01865 279757).
