Academic Background
I studied French and Spanish at St Hilda’s College, Oxford, before obtaining an MA from the Université libre de Bruxelles and a PhD from the University of St Andrews (2011). Prior to being elected to a Tutorial Fellowship at Lincoln College, Oxford, and a Lectureship at Jesus College, Oxford, I was the Queen Sofia Junior Research Fellow at Exeter College, Oxford.
Undergraduate Teaching
Prelims paper III and IV, modern peninsular topics for paper VIII and Alas, Galdós, Lorca, Valle-Inclán for paper XI.
Research Interests
My research spans the literature of the Spanish Civil War and the ensuing exile, particularly issues of memory and identity in the writing of Jorge Semprún. Moreover, I am interested in the recovery of memory and the transmission of past traumas in recent Spanish fiction.
