Professor Jonathan Harris KC (Hons) is a Senior Research Fellow in Law at Jesus College, Professor of International Commercial Law at King’s College, London; Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Commercial Law Centre and a Barrister practising at Serle Court, London.
Academic Background
KC (Hon) MA BCL PhD
I studied Law at Jesus (undergraduate and BCL degrees).
I subsequently worked at the Universities of Birmingham and Nottingham, before joining King’s College, London as Professor of International Commercial Law.
I now practise as a barrister specialising in cross-border litigation at Serle Court, London and combine this with my academic work.
In 2016, I was appointed as Queen’s Counsel (Honoris Causa).
Research Interests
Private International Law; Equity and Trusts.

I am general editor (jointly with Lord Collins of Mapesbury) of the leading work Dicey, Morris and Collins, The Conflict of Laws.
I am co-editor of the Journal of Private International Law (with Prof. Beaumont); and joint general editor of the Oxford Private International Law Series (with Prof. Dickinson).
I am a member of the Lord Chancellor’s Advisory Committee on Private International Law.
