Access & Outreach/
School Visits

We are delighted to welcome state schools from our link regions to visit Jesus College for a tour or a taster day.

A typical taster day at Jesus College includes:

  • ‘Ask Us Anything’ Q&A session with staff and student ambassadors
  • Tour of Jesus College and surrounding areas
  • Taster Lecture
  • Lunch in our Dining Hall
  • ‘Think like an Oxford Student’ critical thinking session

In addition, we can support you with organising a visit to other parts of Oxford University, such as our gardens, libraries, and museums. We are happy to work with you to design a timetable which suits your school’s needs.

We understand that schools can face financial or logistical barriers to visiting us in Oxford. If you are having problems arranging a visit, please reach out to discuss further options. For schools who are too distant for a day visit, we can discuss an in-school visit instead.

If you are teacher or staff member at a school in one of our link regions, please contact our Access Fellow, Dr Matt Williams, to discuss a potential visit. You can contact him by email at:  access.fellow@jesus.ox.ac.uk.

Individual Visits

We encourage you to attend an Open Day, where current students are on hand to answer questions and offer guided tours.

If you can’t make an Open Day, we are happy to welcome prospective students for an independent tour of Jesus College. Tutors will not be available, and your visit may have to be self-guided, depending on staff availability. Please contact the Access Team to arrange a date and time.

If you intend to drop in at your own convenience, we strongly recommend you call our Lodge in advance to check opening times, the number is +44(0)1865 279700. Maps of the central site are available from the Porters’ Lodge.

In addition to the events listed above, the Academic Director or the Access Fellow will be happy to meet with individual teachers, headteachers or careers advisers by appointment and to advise on any aspect of Oxford Admissions.

If you would like to find out more about Oxford Admissions in general, please visit the University website.
