Generous donors boost funds for College on 450th Anniversary Giving Day

7 July 2021

Our 450th Anniversary Giving Day, which took place on Wednesday June 30th, has raised over £150,000 towards the College’s priority areas of student support, access and outreach work, and our new Northgate building.

The Cake Shop in Oxford’s Covered Market made a beautiful wisteria cake to mark our 450th Anniversary Giving Day. Seen here cutting the cake is College Principal Prof Sir Nigel Shadbolt FRS FREng and members of staff.

In College, we celebrated this special Giving Day with a beautiful (and delicious) commemorative cake,  featured a panel of second quad complete with our famous wisteria. There was also a lunchtime BBQ for the staff, students, Fellows and lecturers in College, and locally-made ice cream from the Covered Market’s iScream was enjoyed by all in Second Quad.

Thanks to the huge generosity of College donors, a magnificent £154,630 was raised towards our priority programmes. Dr Brittany Wellner James, Director of Development, says, “After such a difficult year, it was wonderful to come together as a community and celebrate the College. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed and made the day a success.”

As a thank you to all those who supported the Giving Day, our Principal Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt FRS FREng, shared his personal thanks in the message below:
