Graduate student places second in Digital Futures writing competition

30 May 2022

Jesus College graduate student Claire MacLeod has been announced as the second-place winner of the University of Oxford Centre for Teaching and Learning’s Digital Futures Student Writing Competition

The Imagining the Future of Digital Education writing competition was hosted by the University’s Digital Education Strategy Working Group (DESWG), which is led by College Principal Professor Sir Nigel Shadbolt, and launched in Hilary Term 2022. It sought to hear how students imagined their peers’ learning experiences could be transformed by digital technologies over the next decade. Students from across the University were invited to submit fictional news articles about the future of digital learning at Oxford, with all submissions helping to inform the University’s new Digital Education Strategy. Entries were then deliberated by the DESWG judging panel.

In her article, Claire, who is studying for a MSc in Education (Digital and Social Change), explored how the University might use technology to transform its libraries into more flexible and inclusive teaching and learning spaces. She was praised for her ‘well thought-out and detailed vision’.

Her article, as well as the other winning and highly-commended submissions, is now available to read on the Centre for Teaching and Learning competition winners page here.
